About US

Here at Step One Process, we aim to deliver a convenient and accessible service for remote or busy individuals struggling with issues around dependancy .Online therapy can reduce the stigma associated with traditional in person therapy making support more approachable.

Making the first step to receive help for substance or behavioural issues can feel overwhelming and we aim to make the process as comfortable as possible.

Initially you will be contacted to discuss your current situation and issue that has made you seek support at this time  to establish if our recovery programme is the best fit for you.

It is important to note addiction is a complex and multifaceted issue and we understand that individuals may struggle with more than one type simultaneously.

The Group Process

The group offers a safe place to explore your feelings and current situation with a focus on identifying your triggers. Solutions will be explored to develop your coping strategies and relapse prevention methods will be discussed in group and carried out by the clients in there day to day living.

One of the most important parts of group therapy is building trust with your peers and supporting one another on your recovery journeys through honest sharing about the exact nature of our dependency  and associated behaviours we give each other permission to be vulnerable and unload some of the negative emotions associated with dependency

Principles of group Therapy.

Confidentiality. Members are expected to respect the confidentiality of what is shared within the group fostering a safe environment for open communication.

Universality. Members realise they are not alone in there struggles, finding commonality with others facing similar challenges.

Instillation of hope. Group therapy instils hope by witnessing the progress of others, showing that positive change is achievable.

Catharsis. Expressing emotions in a supportive environment can be therapeutic, leading to emotional release and relief.

Existential factors. Group therapy addresses fundamental life concerns such as meaning and purpose, contributing to personal growth.

Group cohesion. Building a sense of unity and support within the group enhances the therapeutic experience for all members.

These principles collectively contribute to the effectiveness of group therapy in addressing a range of emotional issues.

Groups delivered via Zoom, a safe and confidential space is all that is needed.
